The aims of Radcliffe on Trent Infant and Nursery School are based on the fundamental principles as stated in the Special Educational Needs (SEN) Code Of Practice (April 2014). We aim to provide a broad and balanced curriculum for all of our pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs and all abilities. We are committed to maximum inclusion of all pupils in all areas of the curriculum, meeting individual needs, facilitating the highest quality of education for all pupils and the efficient use of resources. We value the abilities and achievements of all pupils, and are committed to providing, for each pupil, the best possible environment for learning.
We actively seek to include children from all cultures and backgrounds, including disabled children and those with special educational needs, in accordance with our Equal Opportunities Policy and Behaviour Policy.
Children with special educational needs have a right to a broad and balanced curriculum and to be educated alongside others in accordance with the DfES Special Educational Needs Code of Practice 2014.
All pupils should be encouraged and enabled to develop their full potential intellectually, socially, emotionally and physically according to their age, aptitude and ability
All pupils should feel respected, in order that their self-image and self-esteem is enhanced, in a safe and happy environment
The feelings and opinions of children are important and valued
Parents/carers have a vital role in supporting their child’s learning
We aim to provide every child with access to a broad and balanced education. This includes the National Curriculum in line with the Special Educational Needs Code of Practice 2014.
The Special Educational Needs Inclusion and Disaibility co-ordinator is Mrs White, the Deputy Head Teacher. As the Special Educational co-ordinator (sometimes referred to as the SENco) she supports the staff and parent/carers to ensure a child with need is effectively supported. She is supported in this role by Mrs N Smith our Inclusion Manager.
Any concerns about a child in school’s specific needs please talk to the class teacher. The Special Educational Needs co-ordinator (SENco) is available to offer support and guidance and make sure outside agencies work well with you to provide a full service to meet your child’s needs.
