Week 7? Has it really been that long since we saw you all?! We miss you all so much!
We hope that you enjoyed our school video that we made for you! If you haven't already seen it, the video with the best quality can be found on the website under 'Children' and then 'videos'. Please take a watch and don't be scared to have a little giggle at all us silly teachers messing around!
It looks like we are going to have some lovely sunny weather this week so try and get as much fresh air as you can and enjoy it while it lasts!
This week we have set lots more 2Do activities for you to keep busy with as well as a new writing task and some other fun ideas for how you can do beautiful printing out of things from around your house. Don't forget to send us your pictures!
We have also added this weeks spellings to 'Spelling shed' and set some new times tables on TTRS to practice. Please don't worry if you are struggling with TTRS and the time running out. The more you practice, the easier it will get and the more you will remember! Be RESILIENT and keep going! We believe in you!
Don't forget to keep checking back on the home learning page for Miss Davies' weekly active challenges! This week is all about 'Orienteering' and there are LOTS of fun challenges to take part in! A little birdy tells me Miss Davies is VERY excited about Den building later in the week!
Please email us if you have any concerns or are experiencing any difficulties with the tasks that have been uploaded.
We can't wait to see what you get up to this week! Stay safe and stay awesome!
The Year 2 Team
This week, the theme for the activities is Orienteering! You do not have to do the activities in the suggested order or in fact do them all, if you really enjoy one day there is nothing stopping you doing that activity every day! Miss Davies will be joining in with each day’s activities this week so be on the look out for her videos! Who is going to join Miss Davies in learning some new skills and keeping active?
There will be a virtual competition each Friday, details of how to enter are shown on the schedule page and on the Friday activity card on the leaflet attached below. The competition will be run at district and county level. There will be prizes for schools with the highest percentage of entries based on pupils on roll, certificates for all entrants and a prize draw after the last week for those who have entered 100% of the virtual competitions. Please make sure that all activities are carried out safely!
Don't forget to send photos to the year group emails so we can see what exciting things you get up to!! Have fun!!
We hope you had a lovely Bank Holiday weekend and enjoyed learning all about how important VE Day is to the UK. We have seen lots of pictures of you celebrating with yummy cakes and beautiful bunting creations! Please keep sending us your pictures- we love seeing your lovely smiley faces.
Earlier in the week last week, the year 2 teachers sent an email to their class with a little update on how they have been keeping busy while we are working from home. It has been so lovely to read how many of you they made smile- that is our main aim right now! Happy smiley children! :D
This week we have lots of different activities on Purple mash and in the links below. Please have a read through the timetable for some ideas of how to keep busy.
Also be on the look out for videos of some familiar people being uploaded to the home learning pages this week! Miss Davies has got her sports kit on ready today ...I wonder what she is going to be doing??
We hope you all have another lovely week. We are missing you all loads!

This document contains the essential knowledge that children will need to know as part of the new topic. These Knowledge Organisers are designed to be used at home by parents to help children learn the information contained within.
Ways to use the Knowledge Organiser at home.
>Children read the information to be learnt (possibly with an adult) .This can be broken down into chunks over the course of the topic.
> Try and recall the information (this can be written down or verbally)
> The key to success is to repeat this regularly over the week.
> It is also important to keep revising the information that has already been learned in previous weeks to keep it fresh in the memory
We are confident that these Knowledge Organisers will help our children to develop knowledge on a wide range of topics and will significantly improve their vocabulary and help to develop their reading and writing skills.
Good morning everyone. We hope that you had fun with last weeks tasks. We are in a new month now and this Friday is a very special anniversary for our country. It is the 75th anniversary of V.E day, which stands for Victory in Europe. It commemorates the day that peace was agreed at the end of World War 2 in Europe. Some of our tasks this week are set around V.E day and we hope that you will be able to make some bunting and have your own tea party or garden party to remember another time where people had to live a different kind of life to keep the world safe.
Have fun celebrating the peace and remembering what was done at that time.
Look out for some letters from your teachers by email later this week and keep your eye on the website for some other nice surprises too. Most importantly have fun with your learning.
Missing you all..... love from
The Year 2 teachers
What a beautiful sunny week we have had! Unfortunately not looking quite so nice this week...but we have still got lots of fun activities for you to have a go at and keep busy!
If you haven't already found it, there is a video below with some exciting ideas of how you can grow plants at home from different things you can find around the house- PLEASE make sure an adult helps you with some of these as they involve using sharp objects or extremely hot items like an iron or flame!!
In Maths this week, we are continuing to measure using cm and beginning to look at comparing the lengths of objects. You could carry on practicing measuring different things around your house and putting them in size order or even measure the size of some plants you find outside. We have also added some 2Do activities to help you practice this. We are also now signed up for Timestable Rockstars and Numblocks which are two fantastic online platforms to help you practice your times tables and other number facts. Please see 'Times table Rockstars' below for more information.
The weekly spellings have been uploaded as a list to 'spelling shed' and can be found under: Webplayer - More lists - 27th April. If you have not already done so and would like access to Spelling shed, please email the year 2 email address and we will send your login details out.
There are also lots of other activities on Purple mash and in the weekly timetable below to keep you busy and practicing lots of things we have learnt at school already this year. We hope you can use just as many AMAZING adjectives, adverbs and conjunctions as you would do at school in your story writing. We would love to see a photo of your finished Jack in the Beanstalk story to see all of your beautiful writing!
Please also email us anything you have done at home that you are proud of or even if you just want to say 'Hello', we would love to hear from you!
We hope to see you all very soon, keep smiling! :)
From the Year 2 Teachers
As a school this week, we have signed up to both of these online platforms to help your child practice their number facts and times tables in a fun and exciting way either on a tablet or computer. To allow access to both of these you will need a username and password for your child. Similar to spelling shed, these are individual to each child so unfortunately there is no easy way of getting these to you. As a year group, we think the best and easiest way of doing this is for us to send login details to any parent that emailed last week for Spelling shed. Then, if any other parents would like to gain access for all 3 of our new online platform subscriptions, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org and we will send these out as soon as possible.
Apologies to any parent that has received an email where 'Numbots' has been called 'Numblocks'. I can assure you it is definitely called Numbots...
We have recently bought into using this exciting resource to support the learning of year 2 spellings. There are a variety of fun activities and mini games to play that will help you learn different spellings each week.
The log in details for this are individual to each child and as we are not able to send these out to all children at once we have decided to send them out upon request. If you would like access to this then please feel free to email the year 2 email account and we can send your child's login details out.
If there are any problems with accessing spelling shed, please let us know and we will try and sort as soon as possible.
The year 2 teachers currently have a joint email account to allow us to keep in contact with parents and children during this strange time. If there are any queries about the home learning packs we have prepared or if you would like to share anything with us then please do not hesitate to get in touch.
Our email address is: email@example.com
We hope you had a lovely Easter and enjoyed lots of time outside exploring new places around Radcliffe.
This half term our topic is all about plants and what they need to grow. Luckily, it looks like we are going to have some nice sunny weather for the next week or two so you should be able to get outside and have a look at the different plants in your gardens and around where you live. There is a video below with some exciting ideas of how you can grow plants at home from different things you can find around the house- PLEASE make sure an adult helps you with some of these as they involve using sharp objects or extremely hot items like an iron or flame!!
We have uploaded lots of activities below to do with how plants grow, as well as some story writing activities for a story about a VERY big plant...a beanstalk. There are also some new '2Do' activities set on Purple mash for you to have a go at over the week.
In Maths this week, the main focus is measuring using cm. You could practice measuring different things around your house or even measure the size of some plants you find outside. Maybe not trees- you would need to be a little bit taller...or have a magic beanstalk to climb up. We have also added some 2Do activities on tally charts and bar charts for a little reminder of what we did right at the start of year 2.
Please email us anything you have done at home that you are proud of or even if you just want to say 'Hello', we would love to hear from you!
Have a lovely week! We hope to see you all very soon, keep smiling! :)
From the Year 2 Teachers
We hope that you have had a good first week of 'Virtual learning' and have managed to enjoy the sunshine too!
We are finding this very strange and we are missing you all very much. In the links below we have provided some activities to keep you busy while you are at home. We are also setting new '2Do' activities on Purple mash each week so keep an eye out for those popping up! Please do not feel pressured to complete all the tasks each week, they are purely suggestions of things to do.
If there are any questions about any of the 'home learning' tasks or you would like to show us some work that you are proud of then this can be sent to the year 2 email address (firstname.lastname@example.org) where one of the year 2 teachers will be able to view your work or answer any queries.
We look forward to seeing what you have all been keeping busy with!
