Year 2
Owl, Robin and Kingfisher Class
In this topic we will look to answer the enquiry question ‘How can we save our habitats?’ where children will learn about a variety of habitats and the plans and animals that live there. They learn to tell the difference between things that are living, dead and things that have never been alive. They will make observations of a local habitat and the creatures that live there, investigating conditions in local microhabitats and how they affect the minibeasts found within them. Children will be given opportunities to research a range of global habitats and how the living things that live there are suited to their environments.
We will also learn about the Geographical features of our locality. We will have the opportunity to reflect on our previous knowledge of where we live, our place in the World and compare Geographical features of our locality and the United Kingdom to Hong Kong. We will use our knowledge of maps and atlases to identify continents, countries and cities and recognise physical features, including rivers and seas. We will apply this knowledge when creating our own maps and making comparisons between the UK and Hong Kong.
