Eco Council
Welcome from our Eco Council
Zoe, Teddy, Travis, Joseph, Ruby, Seb, Eliza, Emmie, Phoebe and Wilfy
Our Eco Council is made up of 2 representatives from every class. Over the course of the year we will lead campaigns to help the school become more environmentally friendly.
Last year our Eco council chose to work on the improving Biodiversity in the school grounds by planting a small meadow and herbs including lavender and rosemary and looked at reducing the school's waste by installing recycling and pen bins in each class. Working alongside Forest school the ECO council also installed compost bins for each class. In recognition of their great ideas and hard work the school was awarded our first ECO schools Green Flag Award.
This year's ECO council have identified 'Energy', 'Global Citizenship' and 'Healthy Living' as the three topic that they and the school will be working on this year.
Our Eco Council is a group of children and staff who work together to make the school a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable place. Their main job to discuss and implement ways the school can help the environment and to encourage our school community to take part in caring for our world. The council is responsible for looking after our class recycling and pen bins around the school, making sure paper, plastic, and other materials are sorted properly so less waste goes to landfill. In the school grounds, the Eco Council look after our raised beds where flowers, vegetables, or herbs can be grown, teaching children about nature and healthy eating. They also help manage compost bins, turning food scraps into compost that can be used in the garden.
