We are now accepting children as soon as they turn 3 years old.
What does this mean for you?
The school cannot claim government funding until the term after your child turns 3, however your child is welcome to attend our nursery as soon as they turn 3, please see the prices below.
Breakdown of prices:
Hourly rate - £4.20
Lunch hour rate - £3.25
Lunch Price - £3.00
These charges apply until their funded hours come in, where you will need to submit your 15 or 30 hour code to us, this is the term after their 3rd birthday.
Invoices will be sent out every 2 months. This is so our charges are accurate as you will only be charged for the days your child actually attends nursery.
If you are entitled to 30 funded hours the term after your child turns 3 years old, you can use these with us or split them with another setting. When completing the online application form (above) there is a section which will ask you how you wish to spilt them.
We also accept the government tax free vouchers.
Nursery New Starters Frequently Asked Questions
What are the arrangements for payment of fees?
The School Business Manager will invoice parents bi-monthly regarding the payment of fees. This invoice (which will be sent home via Nursery) includes payment methods and a breakdown of charges. This information can also be found on our website.
We do accept childcare vouchers. Please make sure you verify your 30 hr and 15 hr codes on the gov website Gov.uk/childcare to keep them active.
How can I organise a school dinner for my child?
If your child is at Nursery during the lunch hour 11.40-12.40, they will be asked each morning if they are having a school meal or if they have a packed lunch with them. Staff will check in their bags if children aren’t sure. Staff will then send this information to the office on a day by day basis. School meals are £3.00 per day. We will only charge you for school meals taken, these will be added to your subsequent invoice. If your child has any dietary requirements, we will arrange for you to meet with our school chef to customise the menu.
What are the requirements for school lunches?
We are a nut free school, due to children with allergies. Therefore, no nuts of any kind are permitted (this includes sandwich fillings). We would encourage you to provide healthy choices in lunches wherever possible.
How do I sign my child up for school milk?
The school office subscribes Nursery children automatically for school milk if you answer ‘yes’ to that section of the original data collection Online Form, before they start. Cool Milk can take around 3 weeks to process new starters. If you would like to register your child yourself, please follow the link here Cool Milk , however this will still take about 2 weeks to process. Please let us know if you have signed your child up, so that we don’t have a duplicate.
Will my child get a snack?
Through the government scheme a variety of fruit is given to the children daily. This varies throughout the week from peppers to bananas and tomatoes to apples, no registration is needed for this.
What should I send my child with each day?
Please send your child each day in clothes which you do not mind them getting a little dirty. Part of their learning is to explore and a large part of this exploration means getting a little mucky! Please send your child with a small bag each day containing a change of clothes in case of toilet accidents, a water bottle and their lunch box should they need one. Please ensure all items are named. No medications are permitted to be kept in bags and should always be given in to the school office where you will be able complete a consent form allowing us to administer medication to your child.
When is Forest School and what do children need to bring?
Forest school is every Wednesday. This takes place throughout the year and there a very few weather conditions which call for it to be cancelled. Please ensure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather each Wednesday, ideally with waterproofs and wellies…there is a LOT of mud involved in Forest School throughout the winter…but let’s face it, that’s half the fun! Please ensure all items are named.
What is Seesaw and how is it used?
Seesaw is our whole school online learning platform Seesaw will be used regularly to communicate what has been happening at school. It is also a great starting point for conversations about home too. We would love for you to send photos and short videos of achievements and ‘WOW’ moments your child would like to share with the class. This might be learning to ride a bike or building a den, finding unusual insects on a walk or winning an award at dance class etc. Sharing these achievements in front of a group encourages the use of descriptive language and develops the ability to answer questions and to retell stories – leading to improved communication skills which are important throughout life. Although your child may feature in group photos (and so visible to other parents /carers) it is only those with a secure login that can see these photos. When you submit your data collection Online Form you can outline your permissions for this platform. During your child’s first few days you will be handed a print out with instructions and a QR code for login details.
Can my child bring a scooter to school?
Yes of course! We simply ask that they leave them hung on the outside of the green fence next to the Nursery gate. They will not be able to use their scooters during their time in Nursery, however we have a big range of wheeled toys that they can use when in our outdoor area.
What do I do if my child isn’t going to be in on their scheduled day?
We understand nursery isn’t compulsory, but if you know your child won’t be in Nursery, it is very useful if you could let the office know. You can call on 0115 9112991 and speak to staff/ leave a voicemail or send an email to admin@rotins.notts.sch.uk
This is good practice to get into readiness for school, but also if anyone were to need emergency provision, we can know in advance if we can offer the space. You don’t get charged for provision you don’t take.
