PSHE Curriculum Intent (Including Relationships and Health education)
At Radcliffe on Trent Infant and Nursery School, the PSHE curriculum is designed to provide our pupils with the knowledge, understanding, attitudes, values and skills they need in order to reach their potential as individuals and within our community.
Our pupils learn to understand and respect each other, our diversity and differences so that they can go on to form the effective, fulfilling relationships that are an essential part of life and learning. They are encouraged to take part in a wide range of rich and meaningful first hand experiences across and beyond the curriculum, contributing fully to the life of our school and our local community.
In doing so, pupils at Radcliffe on Trent Infant and Nursery Infant School learn to recognise their own worth, work well with others and become increasingly responsible for their own learning. They reflect on their experiences through the use of early language skills and understand how they are developing personally and socially, tackling many of the spiritual, moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up.
This mindful approach to PSHE is delivered through the JIGSAW scheme of work and is embedded through our Rainbow values; a set of desirable learning behaviours which equip children to become inspired, excited and motivated learners.
JIGSAW is the scheme of work we use in school to help your children grow their personal development, social skills, and understanding of healthy life choices, including mental health. Jigsaw allows us to ensure that children have time to reflect, manage their behaviour and emotions, learn about relationships and respect for themselves and others, as well as how to keep themselves safe.
Our aim is to help children to understand who they are, be healthy, happy and good, caring people.
